War In The Middle East?
Q. In light of the failed peace agreement in Syria, do you think a possible invasion by outside forces might happen soon? And if so, do you think it may trigger a bigger regional conflict, especially with Israel? I was wondering how else the situation might resolve itself, especially since Assad doesn’t look like he’s going to back down.
A. I’ve read that the US is the only country among Western powers with the ability to coordinate a multi-national invasion of Syria. This being an election year I don’t think our current administration would be interested in leading another war unless it was seen as the only way to avoid defeat at the polls.
Syrian President Assad has promised that if Syria is attacked he will set the Middle East aflame, so I guess that means a regional war would be likely in that case. If that happens one probable outcome could be the fulfillment of Isaiah 17, the destruction of Damascus.
