Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

When I think of the poor in spirit I see myself and others who often feel defeated and hurting in this world. The feeling of "I just cant go on anymore" are constant at times and hopelessness creeps in. In desperation we cry out all day and all night long to Jesus for help. It seems like all the joy and happiness in our lives is gone and only dreadfulness remains.
Oh how we long to hear the comfort of his voice in our sorrows and hear him say to us blessed are you poor in spirit. And we do in your perfect timing and will Lord when you sooth our souls with you great words of comfort and we finally realized just how real, personal and Loving you are to us those who seek your face.
In my time of suffering the greatest comfort you gave me was to know that your Love for me is real. The blessing of the poor in spirit is that they are Loved by God and he has given us his Kingdom he has given us Jesus.
